Over the last few years, Matthew has grown from a comfortable position as Retail Manager from a mid sized family owned grocery store into a Trainer, Speaker, Transformational and Mindset Coach- dedicating his life to growing others as part of the John Maxwell Team and at Matthew Angelo Cybulski, Mindset Coach. As of today, Matthew can add author to his impressive resume. His first book, “Find your Playlist”, just hit the shelves. Matthew’s concept ties his life to certain influential songs from his journey. It brought back the record store nerd in me. Springsteen biographer Dave Marsh once said, “I believe rock and roll has saved lives” – and Matthew is living proof.

How did you come up with the “Find Your Playlist” concept?
I came up with the Find your playlist concept while I was trying to reconnect with myself, my inner child. In literally talking to myself, I had to ask myself to think when was I actually happy? it it had made me think of when I was a kid. It started with Michael Jackson’s album and I would dress up like him with the jacket and one glove and put the cassette tape of BAD in and listen and dance like I was Michael Jackson. It went on as a teen when I would close my door, put on Bone Thugs-n-Harmony or Biggie or Tupac and pretend I was on stage rapping. It made me realize that music always helped me then, and i needed to get back to what worked for me. So as I was reflecting on my troubles, failures and life in general, I was adding songs to my playlist that would cause the lightbulb to go off in my head. They were songs that resonated with me about my life and journey thus far. I then developed my “find your playlist” playlist, hence the title for my book.
What do you hope the reader takes away from the book?
I hope that the reader is able to relate to the impact that music has on us. I also hope the reader is able to develop their own playlist that they can go to when things aren’t working out for them, when things get tough they have their playlist to pull the out from the depths of despair, discouragement and hopelessness. But to also discover, possibly through their own music, that if I can take control of my life and pursue what I feel will make me happy, that they can to.
What tips do you have for someone looking for their own playlist?
Tips for someone looking to find their “playlist” I would say give yourself some time to “dial things back.” Go back to your root self, before life took hold and clouded your perception of what truly matters in your life. For me it was trying to rid the negative mindset in my life. It started with motivational video’s as soon as I woke to then listening to music on my break at work. And that combination led me to finding my playlist.
Now that the book has come out, is there any song you wish you included?
There was a trance song that hit me later after I had already finished writing titled “Find yourself” but it may make it to the next book….
Speaking of your next book, what is on your playlist today?
One song definitely on my new playlist, is Disturbed’s “The Light.” I won’t elaborate too much on it, but Disturbed’s music I feel has always had a message and this one touched on the journey I went on to get to this point. That’s all I can say about another book…..
What song was in your playlist when you decided to make the leap from Retail Manager to creating Matthew Angelo Cybulski, Mindset Coach.
The underlying song that was always present was Eminem’s “Lose Yourself.” That song, I think, can be or will be in a lot of people’s playlists. It personifies the reality of life – we only get one, don’t let it pass you by.
Where can someone order “Find Your Playlist”?
